Automotive: Automotive Tech. A two credit, two hour per day course designed to prepare students for entry level employment. Power Tech. This class deals with such topics as energy transfer, machines, automotive mathematics, power transmission, and small engine service. Consumer Mech. A one credit, one hour class that educates students on purchasing, owning, and maintaining an automobile. Construction: Const. Tech. An advanced two period class covering career options in the construction trades, blueprint reading, estimating, concrete, framing, and industrial safety. Wood Tech. A class on basic woodworking principles and machining. Serves as a prerequisite for construction tech. Pre-Construction For the woodworker with a serious interest in the construction of a house. Serves as a prerequisite for construction tech. Intro to Woods This is an exploratory class. Students will spend nine weeks working in each of the following areas: drafting, woodworking, metal working, and basic electricity. Drafting: Architecture A complete set of working drawings will be developed using AEC-CAD applications. Students will also study CAD images and animation to develop professional presentations. Engineering A complete technical drafting course aimed at meeting the needs of students interested in drafting, engineering, computer graphics, computer animation, and the construction/building industry. Drafting I This is a basic drafting course designed to develop the students skills needed to produce drawings and understand basic drafting theory using the latest CAD equipment. Applied Drafting This class is designed to help prepare students for the Engineering and Architectural Drafting Classes as well as related fields beyond high school. Intro to Drafting This is an exploratory class. Students will spend nine weeks working in each of the following areas: drafting, woodworking, metal working, and basic electricity. Electricity: DC Electricity Provides knowledge of DC electrical systems utilized by automobiles and machinery. This is a prerequisite for the other electricity and electronics courses. Residential Electricity This course teaches the skills needed to become a residential or commercial electrician, and maintain the electrical system of a personal residence. Applied Electronics This course exposes students to a wide variety of electronics technologies. Intro to Electricity This is an exploratory class. Students will spend nine weeks working in each of the following areas: drafting, woodworking, metal working, and basic electricity. Metals: Welding I Welding I is designed for those students who seek a solid background in the basic principles of welding. Welding II This course is designed to take students who have completed Welding I further in their course of study in the world of welding. Intro to Metals This is an exploratory class. Students will spend nine weeks working in each of the following areas: drafting, woodworking, metal working, and basic electricity. Physics: Applied Physics This class is a lab-based approach to the concepts of FORCE, WORK, RATE, POWER, RESISTANCE, and ENERGY as they apply in mechanical, fluid, electrical, and thermal systems.

 

Career and Technical Education courses provide academic and technical knowledge and skills to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging sectors. These programs focus on career preparation, resource management, communication, technical skill development, applied academics, technological literacy, personal skills and leadership.

One credit is required by the Montana Office of Public Instruction.
